My youngest son offered me a trip anywhere I wanted to go. I chose the Lake District of England because I wanted to visit Beatrix Potter's farm and also a castle owned by my 17th great grandfather, Raby Castle. This picture is of a different castle where we enjoyed the gardens.
Art can be used to provide a contrast to the harsh realities of the world. In an era of constant bad news, we need beauty in our lives to provide needed moments of peace and serenity. The beauty of art is that it is mutlifaceted and can mean many things to many people. It can be revelatory, thought-provoking, inspirational, sentimental, nostalgic. I believe that it can also be simple, true, and pure. Beauty is everywhere, and the thrust of my art is to capture that beauty and share it, creating a breath of calm and appreciation for what we have now, in front of us.
