Art can be used to provide a contrast to the harsh realities of the world. In an era of constant bad news, we need beauty in our lives to provide needed moments of peace and serenity. The beauty of art is that it is mutlifaceted and can mean many things to many people. It can be revelatory, thought-provoking, inspirational, sentimental, nostalgic. I believe that it can also be simple, true, and pure.
